Jxel is a lecturer and teacher at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in the Performer-Composer program. He graduated from the same program at the Masters level in 2012. Jxel has been featured several times as a composer and performer in concert halls such as REDCAT (Walt Disney Concert Hall), Roy O. Disney Hall, The Wild Beast in Los Angeles, California; Stony Brooks University, in New York; Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea, in San Martín de los Andes, Argentina; Festival Cervantino, Sala Blas Galindo, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Sala Julián Carrillo de Radio UNAM, in México. He collaborated with David Rosenboom for the projects AH! Opera-non-opera, performed at the REDCAT theater and In the begenning, CD released by New World Records.

He has recorded original and non-original music at Capitol Records on different occasions: http://jazzarchive.calarts.edu/album/2011, http://jazzarchive.calarts.edu/album/2012. His last commission was Altazor, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National University of Mexico’s Radio Station, Radio UNAM. He’s currently working on another commission by Radio UNAM, to be performed on air at the Julian Carrillo Concert Hall, in summer 2014. In 2009, he was choesn among a select group of international performer-composers from around the world to work together in the University of Idylwild.
