Jazz Pianist and Composer Matt Sazima is a freelance musician and educator from Sacramento, CA who is currently pursuing a graduate degree from California Institute of the Arts. He received his B.M. in improvised music from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. While there in 2014, Sazima received downbeat awards for both his vocal jazz arrangement of Hoagy Carmichael’s “Skylark”, and as a part of Willamette University’s vocal jazz group, the Willamette Singers, sharing in the honor of their award of “Best Undergraduate Large Vocal Group”. Matt also plays Vibraphone and sings.

Matt has studied under David Roitstein, Larry Koonse, Joe Labarbera, Joe Gilman, James Miley, Bennett Paster, John Peel, Mike Nord, Julian Snow, Tyler Abbott, Ryan Biesack, Wallace Long Jr., Jeff Baker, Mike Horsfall and Paul Novros.
