Roger Kim is a guitarist and composer whose work investigates the intersections of rhythm, harmony, orchestration, and improvisation, and the juxtaposition of various disciplines including music, dance, and visual media. Stitching together influences as varied as impressionist composers, the AACM, and Brazilian pop, Roger’s work tells stories in a harmonically lush, rhythmically dense, and melodically beautiful musical setting. He has performed all over the San Francisco Bay Area including at The Lab, at the New Frequencies Festival at YBCA, and with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players Ensemble. He studied with Myra Melford at UC Berkeley and is currently working on an MFA in performance and composition at CalArts.
